Freaky Friday

I cannot believe it is Friday night already. This week was a long week but a short week if that makes any sense. Last weekend was a complete blur with the No Room at the Inn event and then the Tastefully Simple open . Then Monnday was another long day as I had to teach class that evening. Tuesday was crazy as the snow started coming down and coming down and coming down. Wednesday no school and no work since we couldn't get anywhere. There were some snow drifts that were taller than me!! Charlie and I spent most of the day cleaning the house hoping that we would be able to get a few things done this weekend. To be honest I am glad we didn't go into work that day as I didn't feel the best - the drop in pressure gave me a terrible headache so it was good I could stay home and rest. Thursday went into work late as I wanted to wait until some of the traffic died down. And now it is Friday and I am looking back at the week wondering where time went! Well...tonight it is just me and the Oman as Charlie is watching his niece and nephew. I am going to try and get caught up on some things around the house. I don't see any scrapbooking in my future, but I can hope!

Well I did apply to the design team for Scrapbooking Circle however I wasn't choosen. I am kind of bummed as I would have really liked to be part of that team, however the three gals that were choosen seem very talented and I really like their pages so I am excited to watch and see what they do over the next few months.

Looking forward to the weekend, tomorrow I have a Tastefully Simple show and then Charlie and I are going to go and look at a car we are interested in purchasing. Then Melanie, Tate, Collin, Mary, Jennifer, Trish and Cole are coming over for some pictures and pizza. I think the boys will have a great time together. Sunday, Mandy from Mandy Marie Photograhy is coming over to take Owen and Cole's photos. I hope they are both good boys as I really want these to turn out. Keep your fingers crossed!

Hope you have a great weekend - Stay Warm!

Surely it is Saturday

Had my open house today in Van Meter for Tastefully Simple. Was a great event and met a lot of fun new people. There wasn't as much foot traffic as I had hoped, but it wasn't for the lack of trying. Just a busy time of year for people. I have another show next weekend at the Dress Barn, Saturday, from 11-3. I hope that proves to be profitable.

Just got back from Toys 'R Us with my mom and sister Lindsey. We had a good time walking around with Owen and seeing what toys he thought were cool. I got a couple things for him as there were some good sales going on. I am hoping to be able to sit down tomorrow and see what Christmas shopping I need to get done yet. My goal is to be done shopping by the end of next week - think I can do it? We will see.

Tomorrow I am heading back down town (Des Moines) to help clean up after the public event of No Room at the Inn. I am hoping to get a few other things done at home tomorrow too - like take a nap.

Speaking of sleep I should hit the hay. You never know when my anti sleep two year old is going to be up!

Hump Day

It is really Wednesday already? This week has been so crazy busy not sure where to start. I have been spending most of my time this week preparing for an event that I am helping out with call No Room at the Inn. It is a fundraising event through Catholic Charities where my sister Trish works that supports the emergency homeless shelter Saint Joesph's in Des Moines, Iowa. It is a project that I am very passionate about as it is the only emergency shelter in the area that keeps families together in these tyring times. I am on the decoration committee and we have spent the last month or so concepting some new design ideas for this space we are decorating. Last night we started the decorating process and got a ton done. It seems that our planning has paid off.

Also, I am planning a Holiday Open house that is this Saturday. If you are able to make it come on out to the Craft Cottage and see what we have to offer. Hopefully you can mark some people off of your list and spend a little time away from the kids and out of the house.

Tomorrow after work I am going to head back downtown to put the final touches on things for the event and then spend the rest of the evening with my son until he goes to bed and then I really need to buckle down and figure out what I am going to submit to the Scrapbooking Cirle's Design team. I thought I had it all figured out and now I am getting nervous and am not sure. I think sometimes I over think things!!

Weekend Work

Since I did have some time to do a little scrapbooking this weekend I thought I would share with you what I got done. I spent some of my time organizing photos, pages and trying to get Owen's books in order. I am so close to getting two of his books finished up. I had a few pages started in these two books but needed to finished them up so I worked on those as well.

This first one is from Owen's first 4th of July which I remember being so hot but so much fun. I used papers by Scenice Route Paper Co. The large photo on page one is my favorite as it shows complete joy.

This next one is actually a two page layout but I wasn't happy with the second page so I just thought I would post page one. The journaling is on page 2. This was later in the day on the same 4th of July as above. Cole and Owen had so much fun splashing around in the water on that hot afternoon. Their Aunt Lou also went swimming with them which they thought was the best. The two of them just laughed and laughed while they were in the pool. It was a great day and this paper was perfect for this layout. It is Cosmo Crickets Snorkel line which I purchased from That Scrappy Girl's website

I also worked on some pages for Scrapbook Circle's Design Team Call. If you haven't been to their site I highly recommend that you check it out http://www.scrapbookcircle.com/kits.php . They have some amazing kits with awesome products. I will continue to get my pages together this week and will share them with you on Friday if not before. Wish me luck - I would be so excited to be part of this design team and these amazing kits!

Have a great Monday!

Family Time

Today was a pretty uneventful day...my husband told me not to plan anything for this weekend so we could get some things done around the house. YUCK! I have a tendancy to overbook myself and sometimes my family on the weekends so I totally understand where he is coming from on this one. So we did things around the house most of the day and then we went shopping at Mendards for some home improvment items. We are planning on putting our house up on the market on Feb. 1 so we are working to get it ready. Nothing like a deadline to finally get those projects done that you have been waiting to do for 5 years now!

Owen has been a good boy today for the most part. He actually took a nap too which is a gift lately. He has been pretty funny wanting to play hide and seek or race cars all the time. He is truly a little boy.

I am off to my scrapbook room to do a few things before I give Owen a bath. Wish me luck to get some creative juices flowing!

About Me

I guess I should share a little bit more about myself, more than what is in my profile that is. I am a mother, wife, Child of God, sister, daughter, granddaughter and much more. I have so many things to be thankful for in this life that I have been given. I currently work as the Communications Specialist for West Des Monies Community Education and I am the districts webmaster. I truly enjoy my job most days and really like the people that I work with. I feel that I am where I should be at this point in my career.

I am a Tastefully Simple Consultant on the side and enjoy getting girlfriends together for a fun night out with great easy to make food.

I love to shop, hang out with my friends and family, read and of course scrapbook! I have never had the passion of anything like I do scrapbooking. Some would say (and my husband does) that I have an addiction but I just like to call it a hobby. I don't get to crop nearly as much as I want to but I guess that just means that I get to enjoy it even more when I do get to go. I have a set of girlfriends that I get to scrapbook with at least once a month and they are as crazy about it as I am.

I suppose I should hit the hay...Owen will be up before I know it. I hope that you will continue to read my blog and share with me your thoughts about my postings. Until next time have a good one.

The Stars are in Alignment

Well...I have been wanting to start this blog for some time now, however I just don't ever seem to get around too it. As most of you can probably relate there is always laundry, dishes, a poopy diaper, bills to pay, etc. However, today the stars are aligned and I am actually finding time to start this! My son Owen and I just got home from the mall grabbing up some of the great Black Friday bargains. On the way home Owen fell asleep in the car - Alleulia!!! Owen is 2 and in this phase of not wanting to sleep ever so this is a nice treat for mommy. Also, my husband got home early from work so I now have another set of hands to help me with the laundry and dishes and so on. So here I am starting my very own blog! Ok - now on to the next thing - scrapbooking. I am going to go and work on some new pages fof Owen's book. I will share over the next couple of days. I cannot wait to share parts of my life with all of you through my blog and my scrapbooking. This is going to be a blast! Happy Black Friday - I hope you are having as great of a day as I am!
